Building Static Websites

A static site is akin to an online brochure. It consists of pages like a printed brochure that always look the same to every user. This is a simple site to build as there is very little programming involved and is therefore the cheapest option to get started with.

The main drawback is that a static site cannot collect information from the user, nor can it display specific information for just that user. Also when static sites become large, they also become expensive to maintain due to the number of pages involved.

A static site can still have interactive buttons that change when the mouse rolls over them to show the user that you can click there, and can also have moving graphics - it is just that the content of the page doesn't ever change. An example of a static page is this one you are reading.
